What to Wear to a Job Interview

Men 

For men, it’s important to dress in a way that is both professional and stylish. This is where a suit will come into play. Failing that however, the next best option would be a long sleeve collared shirt and tie, with dress pants. Whatever you choose, be sure to avoid anything too casual, such as jeans or sneakers. You should also take the time to iron your clothes and polish your shoes. This will communicate that you’re taking the interview seriously and that you’re willing to put in the extra effort. Men

For most, It is important to wear formal or semi-formal attire when it comes to business meetings. Just like the interview setting, a suit is usually the first choice. Second to that, would be a dress shirt and pants that are not too loose or tight. You want to be free to move and breathe comfortably. Tie selection is also important; choose a colour and pattern that compliment your wear but isn’t too loud or over the top. 

As far as shoes go, stick with something like black loafers or dress shoes and avoid sneakers or sandals. Also, pay great attention to your grooming. Make sure your hair is styled neatly and that your beard is well groomed, unless you are clean shaven. 

Women

Women generally dress quite formally for business meetings. A suit or dress and heels are typically the norm.

Opting for classic pieces of clothing in neutral colours is a good way to start. A tailored suit or dress in black, navy or grey will convey authority and confidence without being too flashy. Choosing an ensemble in a more muted palette, such as tan or cream is also ideal. You can incorporate a pop of colour with a statement accessory to add some personality to your look. 

When choosing shoes, opt for closed-toe styles in a conservative colour. Heels are always a good choice, but make sure they are not too high or impractical for walking around the office.
